TNA is Hard to Kill
It’s been nothing short of a long… long road to get back to the level of excitement, quality and momentum that it once had. However following TNA’s first Premium Live Event of 2024, Hard to Kill, has over performed in more ways than one. Hopefully combining the state of wrestling, the new streaming deals and unrivaled consistency of TNA storytelling, this proves to be the rebirth of TNA as one of the top 3 promotions in wrestling today. Applying no shortage of surprises, no lacking of powerful speeches and absolutely total nonstop action, Hard to Kill started and finished white hot!
Decay for All
The dark side held a heavy hold at the beginning of the night as Crazy Steve defeated the ECW legend Tommy Dreamer for the Digital Media Championship, in very hardcore fashion. Seemingly taking the championship in a more sinister direction. Meanwhile the longest reigning TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions in MK Ultra were met with a very familiar dark cloud in Havoc & Rosemary when Decay rose again! The pair completed a wave dominance capturing the championships and bringing the gold back to what may be a death triangle, should they decide to reunite with Crazy Steve.
A Shift in the System
Prior to the PLE Eddie Edwards, his wife Alisha, Brian Myers and Moose formed “The System” a faction, tired of not being able to conform to the system, rebelling to form their own, with Moose at the forefront. This would lead to the main event, where Moose, hungry to take the keys of the kingdom, would meet Alex Shelly, the third longest reigning champion in the bout of a lifetime. Shelley, determined to prove he is the best wrestler in the world today would lay out everything in his arsenal to put down the leader of The System to no avail, and Moose would pin Shelley clean, to the eruption of the TNA crowd!
Show Off and Show Out
After a night full of amazing matches, Moose reigned as the new face of the company. This led to the System coming out to the ramp to solidify their new stronghold over the company. The dynamic of TNA had already changed in only one pay per view. Of course this was only for a moment tho, as TNA would have one last surprise in store. As The System applauded their leader, the music and video for “The Wanted Man” Nic Nemeth, formally known as Dolph Ziggler would appear! Nic flying into the ring for a face to face with the champion would be met with violence, but end in a superkick and Zig Zag (now called the Danger Zone)finish, eventually seeing Nic in the TNA audience ripping off his first shirt to reveal a second shirt with the TNA logo, a symbol that he was officially on the TNA roster!
Stevie’s Schoolboy Rollup Finish
In summary, from start to finish, the show was amazing. They’ve already done well in Pay per views in 2023, but this was a special kind of night if you’ve grown up watching the original TNA. From the women of the night performing the ultimate X, to the full circle moment of Moose becoming champion again, and the cherry on top being Nic Nemeth’s arrival; The entire night was fun, nostalgic and purely pro wrestling.
